Rosemoor in May

Our B&B is the perfect base for visits to a wide range of local attractions and activities. Here are links to some of our favourites:

Nature and Wildlife

Rosemoor Royal Horticultural Society Garden, Torrington is a stunning garden with a fantastic restaurant.

Many beautiful private gardens in our area open for charity through the National Gardens Scheme.

Eggesford Forest, on our doorstep, was the UK’s first National Forestry Commission-planted forest. A walk in the forest combined with lunch or tea at the excellent Eggesford Garden and Country Centre makes a lovely half-day out.

National Trust Properties

Knightshayes Court is a beautiful Victorian Gothic mansion.

Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum is an impressive Regency house with a fine museum collection.

Castle Drogo is said to be the ‘last castle to be built in England’, and has dramatic views over Dartmoor.

Local Town and City Visits

Exeter: visit the Cathedral, the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum, and the University… and enjoy excellent shopping, theatres, cinemas and restaurants.

Barnstaple is an ancient port whose historic Pannier market opens six days a week; it also has an excellent theatre and cinema.

South Molton is a charming market town with a Pannier and animal market on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Torrington: Visit Dartington Crystal‘s award winning Visitor Centre to blow your own glass, take a ‘glass tour’ and shop for beautiful glassware; then wander round the historic town, site of the last battle of the English Civil War.

Sports and Leisure

Surfers rave about the waves at Woolacombe, Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands.

For golfers, we have the 18-hole Chulmleigh Golf Course; others nearby include High Bullen, Libbaton, Waterbridge, Saunton and many more.

Horse riders of all abilities can enjoy exploring woodland and fields or take lessons at Boldtry Riding Stables in Chulmleigh, or at Collacott Riding School nearby.
